Basement Remodel – Part One

As much as I love to decorate and organize things in my own home, I am not the biggest fan of remodel projects.  I decided it may be interesting (and therapeutic) to blog about a project my husband and I are in the beginning stages of.  The plan is to turn our never-used basement into more of a theater-style room (since we love to watch TV and movies).  I am praying that the completion date is not going to be too far off; I am not a fan of having things in disarray!

In the past few weeks, we gave away a treadmill that was in need of some repair, sold a set of two sofas, chair and ottoman, and posted our pool table for sale (hopefully to be sold soon to an interested party who is coming out to look at it).  We are also trying to give away a beast of a large screen floor TV and wood cabinet frame.

Last week, my husband started ripping up the carpeting, we had two quotes for removing the popcorn ceiling and replacing with a knockdown, and quotes for painting the ceiling.

Once we have the large items out of the room, we can get the ceilings done and have the cement floors cleaned and stained.  We have yet to decide exactly the color and pattern, so this will be our next appointments that are made to get bids.

Wish us luck, and stay tuned…
